Last year, I decided that I wanted to extend my house and have a conservatory built. I haven’t got a particularly big house and my garden is what you might call compact. I knew I didn’t have the space for a large garden room; I just wanted somewhere I could sit and enjoy the sunshine during the summer months. I researched the different styles online and was actually very surprised to find that the choices for conservatories were incredibly varied and there were some excellent deals available. I didn’t have a huge budget so I had to be careful about the styles I looked at, but I found one which suited both my taste and my budget.
The builders came round to build it and in no time at all it was ready to be decorated. It is the ideal summer house and as all of the windows open up, it is just like sitting in a shaded area outdoors. It is perfect for enjoying a spot of lunch or simply getting away from it all. I had heaters fitted so that I can still use it in the winter and it has become one of my favourite rooms in the house. Conservatories are generally light and airy and while they are often separated from the main house, I had mine built to be an extension of my lounge – it is used by the entire family and when I have guests over, we often end up in the conservatory because it is such a nice use of space.
